A hardtail MTB is probably not the best suited for 100km of road and share path, but that's not an excuse to be throwing spokes at 80km. 50c train leg at the end. Beware the drivers with an urgent Monday morning pie fix, they can't be expected to see the bike lane with all that pie over their face. The government needs to help these poor pie addicts!

Better to have blown that spoke late in the ride rather than earlier. I did one on my touring bike midway into a ride the other week. Kept riding, albeit, at a slower pace. I knew it would handle it so long as another one didn't pop.
