Great hike directly from Merano. The first few meters of altitude are comfortably covered on the Tappeinerweg. It is very relaxed up to Tirol Castle, more of a walk. Beautiful hike with stunning view.
Make sure to start early. As is it gets quite crowded and hot.
I recommend to start 20-30 minutes before sunrise.
Start from the parking spot with the information boards.
The first part is quite easy. After the "green gate" you have to climb a little bit.

Nice Hike in Black River Gorges National Park.
Take enough water, sun cream and mosquito repellent with you. The Maccabee Kiosk trail is clearly marked. On the top you have a nice view about the National Park, the Black River Peak and La Tourelle. You also can take a bath in the river.

One of my favourite hikes on Mauritius as it's not crowded and you have a stunning view over Le Morne, Tamarin and the surrounding.
Make sure to start early in the morning as it gets quite hot in the afternoon. Take plenty of water and sun cream with you.
The start of the trail is a bit hard to find.

Nice hike within the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens. You have to pay a small entrance fee. Than follow the well described walking pathes through the Botanical garden.
First explore the Zigzag Trail. Good level of fitness and no fear of heights is required.
It can be a bit windy up there but
