Short ride today to Small campsite Quarry Banks at Brampton. Walked down to Lanercost priory, nice and foc. Walkers coming down from Hadrians wall looked drained, no shelter from the sun up there!

Even hotter today. Lovely ride out of Haltwhistle south to Slaggyford gradual climb on disused railway. Lined on both sides with wild flowers. Six mile ascent out of Alston to Hartside pass, hot hot hot. Had a real problem with rim brakes overheating on steep descents. Rims so hot could barely touch

Long hot ride to Once Brewed campsite. Some of the roads had been over sprayed with tar in the past. The tar was melting, I had to try and avoid the tar. If my tyres went onto the tar it instantly slowed me down with a kind of sticky sound coming from the tyres. Hard work but enjoyable. Always a warm

Return bike ride from Bellingham campsite to Dinnington village Newcastle. On and off cycle route 10.Tough hills as I climbed out of Bellingham in the mist. Passed an HGV sign which I believe describes the loaded bike well.

Bellingham to kielder village. Followed route 10 from Bellingham to kielder Dam. Surrounded by a dozen Porsche’s on a club run. Took cycle path that followed north side of the lake to Kielder, beautiful cycle way.

Nice ride up the coast from Berwick. Not always that close to the sea. Thoroughly recommend diversion to St Abbs head, feels very wild. Hell of a decent to pease bay, glad I was heading north not south. Camping and caravan site at Dunbar spotlessly clean. Good valve, if on a bike classed as a back packer £8.40.
