Deleted the completed hike by mistake(thinking it was the planned one)🤪🤦♀️🤦♀️. Tried to import it again, didn't work... So this is planned route although we walked some segments a bit differently (final distance was a bit more), and speed is also wrong, we walked at 5.4km/h.
It was a very different experience to walk during the night. It was a big challenge but I'm very happy to know we could have finished the 40km.

To celebrate my mother's birthday we have gone to the Oma forest. In this forest you can see the works of the well-known painter and sculptor Agustín Ibarrola, there are more than 40 representations in which, depending on where we are, we can see geometric, human and animal figures.
There is no specific order to follow so you can go wherever you want. It is not easy to always find the angle to be able to see the figure. From the Basondo car park, just 300m away is the Santimamiñe cave, closed to the public at this time.

The Sierra de Aralar has a rocky and chaotic landscape of lapiaz, blind valleys, hills and a multitude of chasms and caves. We have climbed the Mendukiloko caves, a cave used for centuries as a stable for cattle. Spectacular rooms with precious stalactites and stalagmites at a depth of 40m. I was left with the desire to go through Iribas and see the source of the river. Next time!

I used to do this route almost every weekend (more than 30 years ago) at that time we extended it and made the ascent to Anboto. Starting from different points you have immense possibilities and you can ascend to different peaks. Today, this walk has made me very different even walking the same roads. I have really enjoyed it. At last mountains and known roads!
We arrived at the Pol-Pol fountain with its famous iron-flavored water and filled the bottle, then we had to throw it away because of its strong flavor (some things never change). Very different from the flat roads of Holland 🇳🇱
