Everything was perfect here: beautiful heathland with juniper trees, a lovely mountain trail, forest, panoramic views, and a castle. A perfect end to our vacation.

Past the Corpus Christi service (almost everything was parked because of it), we climbed up to the Schieferschuttgipfel plateau. Magnificent views of the slate dumps and the surrounding landscape, all in blissful tranquility. The adventurous trail continued over the Kaulenbach stream into the valley

For large parts of the Endert River, it is squeezed into a wild and narrow gorge. Several former privately owned mills can be admired along the stream's edge, and at the Göbelsmühle (Göbels Mill), we enjoyed beer, juice, and cake. The return journey over the mountain was a very sweaty one, but beautiful

Awesome tour: first a section of the Moselsteig trail, an adventurous route with beautiful views of the Moselle, then the monastery and village of Beilstein, with immediate escape from the crowds, finally a return journey that was almost nonexistent at times, but mastered brilliantly, and repeated views
