Cold, clear air and a winter breeze, which later became stronger, were the companions on the hike in the Lugau-Oelsnitz coalfield.
Partly it went along the coal path. This is actually a circular route that leads 18km in length around the former Lugau-Oelsnitz coalfield. Passing the former explosives store, you continue in the direction of the old brickworks, now a leisure site. It is a large area with many historical sights, you can drive around with a small light railway. (Not always possible) An old conveyor excavator for clay mining to make the bricks can be seen and there is also a small snack bar. (also not always open) The hike went through woods and fields. There is a surface natural monument here. The forest is partially drawn on one piece and there are rows and rows of fallen trees. Their flat roots rise up spooky and there are a few single trees all around. Sometimes some trees in the middle are twisted. We went back via Lugau, which was founded as a Waldhufendorf at the end of the 12th century. In 1844 hard coal was found here and the Lugau-Oelsnitz coalfield was founded. On July 1, 1867 there was a serious mining accident in which 101 miners died in the "Neue Fundgrube" shaft.

Taking advantage of the little winter again, today we went in the direction of Loh- and Haderwald from Oelsnitz via Neuwürschnitz. There was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree on the side of the path, from which you could even take small gifts with you. Made with love. The swampy shrubbery and forest are easy to walk through when the ground is slightly frozen. The floors here are wet and cold and a certain shoemaker wrote about this area in the last century: Quote: "Here, between Oelsnitz, Oberlugau and Würschnitz, there is an elevated, almost flat area that only depends to the northeast; acidic grassland, one Lots of ponds, which are not very suitable for use, and untidy forests cover them and make them one of the most melancholy and unpleasant in the Ore Mountains ... ". Oops!
In the direction of Lohwald you pass the estates of the so-called new farmers. On the Lohwald you can find the mining nature trail
Heinrich-Schacht, later renamed Herrmann-Blasche-Schacht, which served as an air shaft. In a hollow I found unloaded toilet bowls, disposed of in the forest. I always ask myself why some people are always so aggressive against nature and against animals. Is there a special drive into the forest? You just don't believe it. On the way back I found a pretty outer pyramid and the fairy tale fountain. Beautiful Advent!

What a golden autumn day! A hike around Waldenburg went very well with it. Waldenburg is an old pottery town in Saxony on the Zwickauer Mulde.
In 1388, the Waldenburg potters were the first in Germany to be awarded a guild letter. We continued through the beautiful Green Fields Park. An English landscape garden is that which is significant in terms of garden history. There are beautiful old trees, there is a park castle, a portal "The quiet joy of nature", a bathhouse, an open-air stage and much more. The path continued through golden autumn leaves and gently falling leaves to the Glänzelmühle in Oberwinkel. A nice restaurant with a beer garden. Here on the playground there is even a climbing mushroom, like from the GDR childhood days. At the end we went past the trout pond, the so-called Dianenbad.

You have to take advantage of the wonderful weather and you can always discover beautiful little spots in your own surroundings. So ring in the weekend get-together right after work. Jahnsdorf is a small community in the Erzgebirge district. The start was at Heydekeramik, a ceramic workshop with a shop and a great coffee. There are delicious ice cream sundaes there, some so big that you almost have to eat while standing. So you'd better go a bit beforehand and enjoy afterwards. Up towards Fichtelbergblick (small hill 485m high) and not to be confused with the large Fichtelberg in Oberwiesenthal. You reach the top via an old church path and enjoy a great view in all directions. Beautiful. Then a nice ice cream and now: Finally a weekend! Have a nice weekend to all of you.

How nice is a fresh morning, despite autumn or precisely because of it. Fresh, fresh, fragrant and currently quite cool. Off to the mill tour with your beloved bike. The actual mill tour goes northwest of Bad Zwischenahn and can be discovered in the Ammerland cycle guide along with 14 other tours. Ours started from Westerstede. A beautiful town. The church paths are easy to get around by bike. I always find the mills very exciting, they have something very special. What an ingenious way of building to work and live too. How relaxing it is to drive through this beautiful landscape and enjoy the beautiful nature.

Off to the island! On Langeoog you will find peace, nature, lots of animals (a seal waved on the crossing) and no cars. You can easily take the ship to the island in a relatively short time and then you can go hiking or cycling. A great, bright beach on the Wadden Sea. Then we started with the train, a colorful island train. First we went to the small Protestant island church. There is also a Catholic Church of St. Nicholas. In the direction of the beach we walked past the water tower through the small town center. On the beach we took a nice walk on the beach and then we hiked through the Pirolatal, here a nice bike and hiking trail leads along. Pure nature and unspoilt.

A wonderful highlight is the park of the gardens in Rostrup near Bad Zwischenahn. Yes also in autumn. Of course it's nicer when everything is in bloom, that's right. But autumn also has its beautiful sides in the garden. Here you can look at sample gardens, collect ideas for designing your home, whether you want to design a large garden or a very small garden. Or whether you use water or art or whether you want to do something with plants where you can harvest or, as my friend always says, with useless plants that are just beautiful. No matter everyone will find something for themselves. There are many good tips for feeding the birds and dealing with animals in the garden. A permanent garden exhibition with beautiful plants, trees and flowers, but on 10.10. 21 first goes into the winter break. The tour looks a bit like a ball of wool that has fallen down

You have to take advantage of the nice weather when you are on vacation. So wheel out, tighten like an onion, because it's already cold and then kicked off. It's always fun to explore the area by bike, you can feel the air, hear and smell the area and see little things along the way that you normally don't pay attention to. We started in Westerstede via Mansie, towards Rostrup, Bad Zwischenahn. There a lap around the Zwischenahner Meer. They are all easy to ride, always flat bike paths. These lead past beautiful landscaped nurseries, with well-cut trees and plants. In sections it went over the Kirchweg from Gießelhorst to Westerstede.

Today the weather was nice, so get out your bike and start pedaling. The Ore Mountains are great to explore by bike. There weren't many people on this section. The first thing to do was to walk a piece of the Lugau coal railway cycle path. A section of the Lugau-Wüstenbrand railway was dismantled for this cycle path. After the origin, however, it went to the right in the direction of Leukersdorf. Passing the Klaffenbacher Wasserschloss you have to pedal hard, because then comes the climb to the Eisenweg, which you continued towards Katzenstein. The Eisenweg is an Erzgebirge high-altitude path that was used to transport iron ore and which follows the Erzgebirge northern edge step. It connects Chemnitz with the central Ore Mountains. Here you always have wonderful views over the Chemnitzer Land and over the Ore Mountains with their different heights. A nice hiking trail and also good to ride a bike. On the way you pass the Forzbachl, where people used to get their coffee and that had a loud effect. Then you can see the Black Cross on the roadside in the forest. It is an old atonement cross because an abbot was slain and robbed here. This is followed by the small town of Brünlos, where storm Fabienne raged particularly badly. He felled whole patches of forest. Past the Streitwald we went to the Katzenstein. There is a triangulation point that used to be used for land surveying. Great view over the vast country, you only have to drive a bit over the harvested field to get there. We went home past Beutha. Here, too, you can get around well by bike, some forest paths have been washed out, but you can still ride that.

A nice tour took us from Mittelndorf via the cowshed to the Lichtenhain waterfall and Lichtenhain and back. The cowshed is an 11 meter high rock gate made of gigantic large rocks. It is believed that the farmers hid their cattle here from the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War. Pure nature and wonderful views over the wonderful Saxon Switzerland.
