Because of the (apparently less frequent) north-easterly wind, we decided to walk from Craster to Alnmouth. (X 18 to Seahouses, hourly from Alnwick, 30 mins to Craster Harbour.) The first part around Craster is breathtakingly beautiful, also the finish at Alnmouth Beach, of course. After the Caravan site do not follow my steps across the Golf Course, but do choose the walk along the beach. 19.08.25, with Emi.

We did this walk on the 19th and 24th to start and finish our Northumberland Coastal Path 25 Taster. Nice little seaside town, a short busride from Alnwick and not as busy as Seahouses. Fantastic tide experience with the Aln flowing into the sea here. At low tide (!), you can cross over to St. Cuthbert's Cross and walk from there to Amble (or from Amble to Alnmouth) and so avoid the official Northumberland Coast Path route, which seems to go along the road on this part. Huge recommendation for the really nice Bistro 23 at Alnmouth.

Loved the ferry crossing at Shepperton and both the towpath around Hampton Park and the park itself. Very crowded around Walton and onwards on a Saturday in August.
