Anyone who enters the Wannsee lido doesn't simply step onto the edge of a lake – they enter a Berlin way of life. Between brick and sand, between the screams of children and the smell of sunscreen, lies a place that has been smiling against the urban hustle and bustle for over a hundred years.

The beach stretches like a carefully drawn line through the memories of many generations: over a kilometer of the finest sand, specially brought here, gently sloping into the water – an inland sea of longing. Behind the beach chairs, which appear stranded, rises the historic backdrop with its unmistakable gable. A building that resembles a town hall more than a bathing pool – dignified, almost solemn, as if it were about to officially open the Berlin summer.

People arrive in waves, like the sun slanting through the leaves. And recently, in time slots. It's a quiet drama when the slot expires and the friendly announcement comes: "Please leave the water." Summer now obeys the rhythm of the administration – but for a moment, it was there. For a few hours, the water, the light, the life belonged to you.

And when you stand outside again, barefoot with sand on your ankles, you know: It was another one of those days at Wannsee. Not spectacular, but perfect. A piece of Berlin, swaying between the sky and the Havel River – and living on in all of us.
