Nice rest stop on Rimbachsteig or another hike. The host is friendly.
Unfortunately, you can also drive directly to the cabin. The descent to Schwanheim one must therefore share with cars.

Beautiful hut below the Kühhungerfelsens with large outdoor area and playground.
Friendly host and good food with daily offer in addition to the "usual" Pfälzer Hüttengerichten.
If there are offers: The lumberjack's cakes, the rumpsteak with chanterelles and the Fleeshknepp with horseradish sauce were tried and found to be recommended.

The Wasgauhütte (also Schwanheimer hut) is managed by the Ortsverein Schwanheim of the Palatinate Forest Association refuge in the Palatinate Forest. It is located in the German part of the Wasgau in a southwesterly direction above Schwanheim and below the Kühhungerfelsen (422 m). The hut is located at an altitude of 324 m. It offers no overnight accommodation.

Currently open again with food to-go, it was quite busy, but everything was very decent. The benches are cordoned off, but there is plenty of space around them to spread out. Unfortunately, the hut can be approached by car, which of course increases the number of visitors.

A highlight of the Rimbachsteig. The Wasgauhütte is open from Wednesday to Sunday in summer. My special meal (wine gristle with potatoes and a large salad) was delicious. Because of the length of the Rimbachsteig, I divided the climb into 2 tours and each chose the Wasgauhütte as the end :-) A good choice !!!
