The Ternell Nature Center/CRIE Eupen is an educational institution of the German-speaking Community of Belgium specializing in nature conservation and nature-related public relations. Since 1999, it has also been recognized as a Regional Center for Environmental Education of the Walloon Region (CRIE: Centre Régional d'Initiation à l'Environnement de la Région Wallonne).[1] Ternell is located in the Belgian part of the German-Belgian High Fens-Eifel Nature Park and in the immediate vicinity of the High Fens Nature Reserve.
The Ternell Nature Center is located on the Monschau Road N 67 from Eupen to Monschau on the ridge between the Hilltal and Getzbachtal valleys.
Haus Ternell is a tourist attraction and starting point for hikes in the High Fens.[3] In winter, Ternell houses a ski rental station and is the starting point for three groomed circular cross-country ski trails and a cross-country ski trail connection to Sourbrodt.
On weekends and public holidays, bus line 385 runs from Eupen station to Monschau and on Saturdays to Kalterherberg.[4]
