The Getzbach rises in the raised bog of the so-called Brackvenn, in an area around the N 67 Monschau - Eupen, near the German border at Mützenich and flows into the Wesertalsperre, where it forms the Getzbach arm together with the water from the Hill, which is brought in via a 1.5 km long tunnel.

The swampy source area of the Getzbach with its water-filled palsas is located in the restricted access nature reserve. Since May 2010, the source area in the northern Brackvenn has been populated by numerous beaver families, whose activities in the sense of the renaturation of the former swamp landscape cause a backflow of water, which is now quite desirable. ..."

We cross the Getzbach over this stable wooden bridge. The Getzbach has its source in the Brackvenn, only a few kilometers away. Due to the fine peat particles that have deposited on the bottom of the stream bed, the water appears deep brown to black.
