The Pantheon is an ancient temple in Rome from the 2nd century AD.

It is a rebuild of an earlier pantheon on this site that was destroyed by fire in 80. Pantheon (Greek: πάς pas = any / θεός theos = god) means "(consecrated to) all the gods". The Pantheon is one of the best-preserved Roman buildings in the world. The building owes this to the fact that it was transformed into a church in the 7th century and has been continuously used and maintained. The Pantheon is still in use as a Roman Catholic Church and is dedicated to Saint Mary and the Martyrs. It has the ecclesiastical honorific title basilica minor.
