Source of the Sorgue is well known under the name - Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
Very close to the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the Sorgue rises at the end of a deep green gorge. The source of the Sorgue is one of the most popular natural monuments and accordingly attracts many tourists. Rightly so - it is the largest spring in France and the fifth largest in the world.
Rugged rocks, 230 m high, surround the gorge and reveal the spring and its emerald green water. It emits 630 million m³ per year and leaves the mountains here. Almost everything that seeps away from rain and snowmelt in an area of 1,100 km² finds its way underground and resurfaces here.

An extensive underground network of rivers feeds the Sorgue with water all year round. Especially in spring and autumn, huge amounts of water leave the source and offer a spectacular natural spectacle.
During an expedition, a diving robot descended to a depth of 308 m and hit sandy bottom. But the secret of the deep has not been revealed. The Sorgue source remains a mystery. The off-season is best for visiting. Then the source is not so crowded and you can fully enjoy this natural experience.
