The tower is 40m in height and a landmark in Jiading Old Town. It was built in the years 1205-1207 during the Song Dynasty, but was repeatedly damaged and replaced in the subsequent centuries.
It was declared a historic landmark in 2002.
Accessing the tower area also provides access to Exhibition on Wellington Koo’s life, the archive of Hu Juewen’s life, and the Bamboo Carving Museum.
