The New Stables consist of a four-storey wing on the Schloßplatz, a five-storey wing on the Spree, a four-storey wing on Breite Straße and two wings with different floors in the courtyards. The Schloßplatz wing contained the administrative rooms on the base floors and the publicly accessible exhibition rooms on the upper floors. The Spree wing contained the stables for 270 horses on the base floors and the exhibition rooms for 300 carriages of the Prussian court on the upper floors. The Breite Straße wing contained the administrative rooms on the base floors and the servants' apartments on the upper floors. The courtyard wings contained riding halls, garages and workshops.[3]
The four-storey Schloßplatz wing is 83 metres long and 23 metres high. The base and mezzanine floors are rusticated, the upper floors are divided by pilasters. The central projection of the palace square façade is divided by double columns across all floors and was crowned by a tympanum with the Prussian coat of arms. The side projections are only divided by double columns on the upper floors, while a Prometheus and a Perseus fountain were located in the base zones. A total of six horse and warrior sculptures formed the end of the façade on the square side.
The five-storey Spree wing is 176 meters long and 31 meters high. The rustication and pilasters continue on the façade. In the central projection of the Spree façade, there is a portal with a pediment on the base floor. A relief depicting Oceanus is embedded in the tympanum. The side projections were also crowned by tympanums containing royal monograms. A total of eight horse and warrior sculptures formed the end of the upper façade on the Spree side.
