Bosgebied Schophemerheide is located on the slope between the valley of the Voer and the ridge of Altenbroek. It consists of historic deciduous forests and some young hardwood plantations. Yet there are also some old coniferous woods, which will eventually be converted to mixed indigenous forest types. In this forest, sustainable forest management is done to produce quality wood. Valuable grasslands have been created on the calcareous slope through centuries of extensive agricultural use. The domain is embedded in the Altenbroek nature reserve. The Schoppemerheide or Schophemerheide is a forest area in the municipality of Voeren in the Belgian province of Limburg. The forest is located northeast of Schophem, northwest of Sint-Martens-Voeren and one kilometer to the northeast is Noorbeek.

There is a play forest in the Schoppemerheide, one of four (!) in Voeren (next to Voerenberg, Alserbos and Kys). Children can hunt for treasure, build a shelter or just 'play around'.
