The Val-Dieu Abbey is the only Belgian Abbey to survive the French Revolution. There are no more monks, but a Christian community still occupies the premises. A magnificent place full of tranquility. It is possible to eat in the old barn transformed into a brewery where you can taste the products of the abbey (wine, liquor, beers ...).

The Val-Dieu Monastery, located in the heart of Herverland, in the Diocese of Liège in East Belgium, can look back on a long tradition of monastery and brewery. Retreated behind the walls of the old monastery building, the Christian community of Val-Dieu today maintains the monastery life in the sense of the Cistercians and since 1997 fine Belgian abbey beer has been brewed behind the old monastery walls again.

It is based on old recipes handed down by the monks and so unpasteurized top-fermented abbey beer is brewed here without additives. Specialties include three types of beer: Blonde, Brune and Triple.
