... In this context, the strange find in the church on January 22, 1788 is of particular interest. An animal head roughly hewn from hard quarry stone was discovered in a walled tube under a side building of the tower, proving that there was a pagan sacrificial site here.

In 1915 the church received electricity, there was now lighting, the organ got a motor for the bellows and the bells got motors to drive them. The long ropes used to ring the bells were dismantled.
In 1942 the big bell from 1638 was dismantled on the highest order. They wanted to melt them down and use the material for cartridge cases. At the end of the war, the bell was found in Thuringia, and it took until 1950 to get it out of the Soviet-occupied zone.
