Anna Sophie von Humbert from nearby Königsberg / Neumark, today Chojna, had the park laid out around 1850 to receive her husband, the local district administrator, after a long business trip "in the valley that created love". Two green ponds with figures of the gods Venus and Apollo form the heart of the moraine landscape directly on the river bank. It is probably due to the name of the park that they are mostly mistaken for Adam and Eve. In the 1920s, the valley of love developed into a popular destination. A stone altar made of boulders with the inscription of the first line of the earlier national anthem "Germany, Germany above everything" has stood on the highest vantage point (Wzgórze Pamięci) since the 1930s. In addition to the stone altar and elsewhere in the park, stones were set up for well-known personalities, including Beethoven and Bismarck, Kant and Wilhelm II.
