Very few places in Saxon Switzerland can compete with the magic and attraction of the Schrammstein viewpoint. This point, which you reach after a very challenging climb, rewards every hiker with an incomparable view of the wild, jagged rock formations of the Schrammsteine and the expansive Elbe valley.

The impressive panorama that can be seen from here changes with every time of day and year. In the morning light, the Schrammsteine appear gentle and dreamy, while at the golden hour of the evening they glow in the most intense colors. The ridge path is fantastic! Especially the section to the right/east of Mittelwinkel (ascent/descent), where there's a spot with a magnificent view of the Schrammsteine. Compared to the ridge path on Rauenstein, it's even more challenging. But the view is even better (in some places).

😎Historically, the Schramensteyn castle watchtower was located on the Vorderer Torstein in the Middle Ages and served as an observation post. It later passed to the Electorate of Saxony and was described as dilapidated in the castle register of 1456. In 1993, during investigations on the Vorderer Torstein, remains of this castle watchtower were discovered, including a hearth, charcoal remains, an arrowhead and ceramic remains. The Schrammsteine are very popular with both hikers and mountaineers due to their diverse paths and climbing rocks💯❗
