One of the largest and most magnificent museums in the world. But also one of the most visited. It is advisable to book tickets in advance and then get in line well before opening. If you have planned your visit well and know the routes, you have the chance to quickly reach the Mona Lisa with the first visitors. Then you also have enough space and time to walk from left to right and admire the following eyes and take your time to look at the picture up close. After 20 minutes at the latest, however, the room is literally overrun and you are sandwiched between visitors who are completing the multi-fold course. Time to escape. The other departments, including the famous Egyptian department, are much less crowded, here you have time and space to let the exhibits take effect. However, it is advisable to make a selection beforehand, because the treasures are almost inexhaustible and the day passes quickly. Those interested in Leonardo are also recommended to visit the Czartoryski Museum in Krakow: the “Lady with an Ermine” hangs there and can be admired almost in solitude.
