The Narrenturm is an important monument to the history of patient care and medicine in the late 18th century. It was founded in 1784 for the care of mentally ill people. The building is listed and now owned by the University of Vienna. In 1971, the Federal Pathological and Anatomical Museum was housed here, which was incorporated into the Natural History Museum in Vienna in 2012 as the pathological and anatomical collection in the Narrenturm. The building was completely renovated and reopened in 2020 with a new display of the display collection.
