The Ankeruhr is actually a bridge and connects the two parts of the Anker-Hof building. The Art Nouveau painter Franz Matsch designed the clock.

It was built between 1911 and 1914. Over the course of twelve hours, twelve figures or pairs of figures from the history of Vienna walk across the bridge. At 12 noon, all figures parade with music. Christmas carols are played every day in Advent at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
