      The Hohnekamm mountain range is made of granite, which forms bizarre rock formations here in several places due to the weathering of wool sack - especially the Hohneklippen on the highlands. The highest of these rugged pinnacles is the groin cliff (⊙, 900.6 m), which is accessed by ladders; From the top of the cliff you can see the Brocken, Wernigerode and Ilsenburg on the edge of the Harz, Halberstadt in the foothills of the Harz and the lower Harz with the Joseph Cross on the Großer Auerberg. A little to the northwest of it lies the border cliff (⊙, 886 m), to the southeast, however, the ridge continues to the bear cliff (⊙, about 870 m). The southeastern part of the ridge below this cliff is known as Hohnekopf (⊙, 840 m), on which there are more cliffs; on its southern slope lies the Trudenstein.
