The church ruins "Heiliger Bühl" are located between Engelhardsberg and Wölm and are probably the earliest evidence of Christian history in the Muggendorf area.
The founding is unknown. The first documented mention can be found in 1507/08 through the sale of Georg von Streitberg to the Margrave Friedrich of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. St. George's Church at Heiligen Bühl was consecrated on Bartholomew's Day, August 24th. To this day, the parish celebrates the parish festival on August 24th or the following Sunday.
