    In the past, the residents of the high-altitude town of Burggaillenreuth, which was naturally water-poor, like many other villages on the plateaus of the Franconian Jura, had to carry the water drawn here up the entire mountain in buckets and buttes. In 1877, Baron von Horneck had this hydraulic water system, also known as the ram, built, along with a water pipe, so that the people of Burggaillenreuth could obtain drinking water with less effort.

      Only in 2007 was the historic water supply revived. From 1877 to 1927 the village of Burggaillenreuth was supplied with drinking water by a hydraulic ram plant. Benches invite you to linger, the water is of the best drinking water quality.         Interesting old technology. You can also find an old restored, functional ram in the Leidingshofer valley near Veilbronn. You can watch the ram at work through a grating, it splashes and hits that it is a joy.
