The Duisburg town hall was built in the style of the historicizing early Renaissance from 1897 to 1902. During the renovation of the severe damage from World War II, the building was largely rebuilt and received its current shape.
The town hall marks the historical core of Duisburg. It is still very central today, close to the inner harbor and the pedestrian zone. Events take place regularly in the Burgplatz in front of the town hall.
