The Gera Orangery is a late baroque two-wing complex in the former kitchen garden of the younger line of the Princes of Reuss. The orangery and greenhouse were built between 1729 and 1732 and in 1748/49 according to plans by the Princely Saxon State Architect Gottfried Heinrich Krohne. In the course of an eventful history, it served as a hospital and horse stable, gymnasium and bar, and most recently as the home of the Gera Art Association. Since 1972, the Orangery has housed the Gera Art Collection.
