        The 21 m high tower is 1874-1875 by the mineralogist Dr. med. Moritz Rudolf Ferber were built. Since 1948 it is a restaurant. From the tower you have a beautiful view over Gera, just ask in the restaurant.

            From 1828 to 1875, Moritz Rudolph Ferber was technical director of the Gera textile company Morand & Co. In 1833 he installed the first steam engine in Gera and in 1839 set up the first steam dyeing shop in Gera. He had the Ferberturm built in 1874/75. Ferber died on August 28, 1875 in Gera. On September 23, 1874, a street below the Ferberturm was named "Ferbers Anbau". On September 1, 1960 the street was renamed after the communist gymnast Otto Thomas (January 8, 1872 - December 11, 1945). From March 1, 1991 it was "Ferbers cultivation" again.
