Why the 'Knife Guy' is what his name is is not experienced. The stone cross with crucifixion group and skull is missing the right arm. The inscription reads: "In 1752, on the 28th of December, all of us came for his life. Albert Meijer von Voltlagen bette his sel and before all travelers a father Our Ave Maria."

A stone cross on the Spellerberg plateau near Veldrom, which lies on the border between the town of Horn-Bad Meinberg, the town of Bad Lippspringe and the municipality of Altenbeken, is called a knife guy. This is where the trade route from the southern Münsterland over the Weser Mountains, as well as the route over the Römerberg to Bad Lippspringe and a ruler called a junction crossed the Lippe border to Detmold via Horn. [1] The Messerkerl lies at a height of around 400 m above sea level and is marked by a sandstone monument about 1.90 m high, which commemorates the traveling merchant Albert Meijer who was murdered in 1752. [2] The memorial, decorated with a crucifixion group and a skull, bears the inscription:
