    One of the most beautiful places in the Teutoburg Forest is the Silberbachtal. The valley is not only called that because the water of the river often shimmers silver when it flows over the dark streambed. In the 18th century, silver was actually searched for here. Virtually nothing was found, but because of the stream, many mills have settled in the area.

            Interesting to hike through the gnarled ground conditions - but beware: in wet conditions the roots are very smooth. You should already use hiking poles!

              A wonderful valley - very wild and original. The paths are quite steep, rocky and riddled with countless roots. I think the use of hiking poles makes sense.

                  Unfortunately, it is currently closed there (06.2021) and there is almost clear-cut there. The bark beetle damage is immense.

                    I was here before in 2014. The dark spruce forest left a lasting impression on me.
                    In 2021, most of the trees have now disappeared and the path was actually closed.
                    Tree felling work... and it wasn't the only section of forest that was closed because of it.

                        The Silberbachtal is one of the most popular hiking routes in the Teutoburg Forest and Egge Mountains. The narrow valley, which is crossed by equally narrow paths, also forms the geological separation between the two mountains, which briefly run parallel to each other on the right and left.
                        The Silberbachtal was originally characterized by a very dense jungle. It is now completely bare, but still has a scenic appeal, especially since you can see the mountain ranges better for the first time.
