                  The (or: the) Velmerstot is the northernmost and highest mountain of the Eggegebirge in North Rhine-Westphalia. It possesses the two summits Preußische Velmerstot (south summit, about 464 m above sea level NHN [1]), whose summit rises in the area of Steinheim-Sandebeck in the district Höxter, as well as the Lippische Velmerstot (♁⊙; Nordkuppe, 441.4 m [1]), which is located in the area of Horn-Bad Meinberg in the district of Lippe. The entire mountain belongs to the nature park Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge. On the Prussian Velmerstot is the Eggeturm (observation tower); on the Lippischen Velmerstot with heathland are rugged sandstone rocks.

                                      The Prussian Velmertot is the highest peak (468 above sea level) in the Eggegebirge. In 2003 the 17 m high (viewing platform 9.15 m) Eggeturm was built by the Paderborn Forestry Office and restored in 2010. There is a fantastic view (unless fog obscures the view).
