    August 2025 – the Silberbach stream is barely recognizable anymore. If you're out with dogs and think you'll find the water here, you're in luck! Everything's overgrown and barely accessible! Perhaps it would be a good idea to organize the comments by year! The pictures shown here don't fit at all!

      The hiking trail runs right next to the Silberbach. The nice thing about this brook is that it still paves its way naturally and cannot be overheard. This gives you a great background noise during the hike.

                  The pictures are from 2019 or older. Now in 2022, the valley resembles a disaster landscape. Storms and bark beetles have done a great job. The destruction is speechless. The paths are walkable and it still has its charm, but the markings are missing in some places. Good shoes and a hat in strong sun are recommended, as the sun beats down mercilessly without the canopy of the trees.

                              The creek rises between the villages Kempen and Feldrom, which belong to Horn-Bad Meinberg. In the Silberbachtal he flows at the foot of Velmerstots over sandstone cliffs to Leopoldstal. Between Heesten and Vinsebeck it flows into the Heubach, which flows in Steinheim into the Emmer. Originally called the brook Möllenwasser. The name Silberbach comes from (small) silver finds in the years 1711 to 1712. Mills used the water power: The first concession was awarded in 1612 by the Lippe landlords. The blacksmith delivered an ax every year to the princely Rentkammer. At the beginning of the 19th century, there were still up to seven mills and forges. In the upper reaches there were three grinding mills, up to four grinding mills and two fulling mills. Today there are still the remains of the silver, the Boll and a grinding mill. The silver mill is the former "packing house", where once the silver ore was washed out. It was rebuilt in 1711 to a grinding mill, which was soon called silver mill. In 1895, the miller received the concession to set up a restaurant. The mill operation ran until 1927.
