In the 1960s, it symbolized the future vision of building: the egg-shaped futuro house by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen. Confidence in science and technology and the belief in the conquest of space led architects and designers to think wildly about what new, functional, efficient and at the same time mass-producible dwellings could look like. Around 70 examples of the futuro house made of plastic with a living space of 25 square meters were built, of which around 60 are still preserved today.
