Munich's Marienplatz, with its New Town Hall, is the world-famous center of the Bavarian capital. Whether it's the Glockenspiel, the Christmas market, the Meisterfeier (Champions' Day celebration), or cheerful people from all over the world strolling around – there's always something going on around the Mariensäule (Mary's Column) in every season.
Marienplatz is the intersection of the east-west axis between Isartor and Karlstor, and the south-north axis between Sendlinger Tor and Schwabing.
It's an ideal starting point for sightseeing tours through the Bavarian capital, as numerous Munich attractions, such as the Frauenkirche, Odeonsplatz, and Viktualienmarkt, are within easy reach from here.
