There is now a small restaurant in the castle or in the inner courtyard from Thursday to Sunday: from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. There are coffee - drinks and tea from Fair - Trade - production, but also beer or Prosecco etc. for relatively little money (self-service / pay directly!).
Since a wedding party was present in the courtyard today, I decided not to take photos, but was not locked out! 👍
Unfortunately I forgot to check whether there were cakes or similar. gives. 🤷 I was just thirsty! 😉

"... The beginnings of the Haus Graven moated castle probably date back to the 13th century. The “Motte Schwanenmühle”, which is only a few hundred meters away, is certainly the predecessor building of Haus Graven.

In 1327 a squire “Adolf vamme Graven” was first mentioned in writing. The owners of the moated castle changed through marriage, purchase or inheritance. In 1618, Haus Graven came into Velbrück's possession for over 160 years. After its destruction in the Thirty Years' War, Gumprecht von Velbrück rebuilt the moated castle in its current form in 1656, without a manor house. In 1776 Adam von Velbrück died without male heirs. In 1788, Count Johann Wilhelm von Mirbach acquired the Graven moated castle, which remained in the von Mirbach family until 1974. Since then, the owners and use of the moated castle have changed several times. The buildings were initially used as a “carpet studio” and for cultural events. In 1995, extensive renovations and conversion for residential purposes took place. At the end of 2010, the city of Langenfeld rented the moated castle and handed it over to the “Wasserburg Haus Graven e.V.” association for cultural use. ..."
