The beginnings of fruit growing in the Bergisches Land date back to around 1192. Leichlingen was long ago referred to as the “Obstkammer” of the Bergisches Land. On the hiking route you can admire orchards and meadow orchards.

A narrow dirt road leads right through fields of fruit trees. Each field is clearly marked with signs that provide information about the respective types of fruit. Old and relatively unknown apple varieties such as "Jacob Lebel" or "Zuccalmaglios Renette" are at home here.
