Seeburg is dominated by the castle of the same name, visible from afar and rising majestically on a peninsula above the Süßer See (Sweet Lake). It is the western part of an ancient, very large refuge. Since the late 1990s, the castle has been divided into private ownership, changing hands several times. This has resulted in the castle remaining unrenovated, standing empty, and falling into disrepair. The Widow's Tower and the castle church, however, have been renovated and are owned by a fruit farm. They are used as a residence, for vacation apartments, as a registry office, and for concerts. The new orangery on the lake promenade represents a further step toward tourism. The architecturally sophisticated new building will allow year-round operation.

Larger town on the Süßer See with an impressive church in late Romanesque style. Particularly noteworthy is the rich Baroque furnishings with a horseshoe gallery, organ front and pulpit altar. Although the entire roof covering has been replaced in recent years, the masonry is in a deplorable condition. Due to the progressive erosion of the brittle sandstone and various crack formations, its stability is at acute risk. The damage to the tower is particularly problematic, where a large block of wall in the southeast corner is in danger of collapsing. There is a partial risk of collapse here. The likely highlight of the small town on the Süßer See is the towerless village church “Zum Heiligen Kreuz”. Parts of the towerless Church of the Holy Cross were built in 838. The roof was repaired in 1982 and the interior was renovated in 1986. The organ, which was considered valuable, was built in 1872 by master organ builder Friedrich Gerhardt from Merseburg (without a fan) and repaired to make it playable in 1986. Nice 5km running route along the north bank. Starting from the Nordstrand car park (which can also be used as a starting point for a run around the lake), the road runs along the lake (north side). Further along the residential road, after 2km there is only an asphalt cycle path/footpath. It's a leisurely walk, and every now and then there's access to the lake.

This is the ideal place to take a break while running around the lake. Benches invite you to take breaks to stretch.
