A lovely spot for a leisurely bike ride and enjoying the view. Those who prefer a faster pace need to be quite careful of pedestrians, but it's actually much nicer to take your time here and relax on one of the benches.

The RSE Museum is a good example of what can be achieved with volunteer work. The condition of the facility is accordingly excellent, and on opening days (see https://museum-asbach.de), small, free tours are even offered. While no trains run on the railway tracks, which have been abandoned and dismantled for decades, you can at least walk along them – at least as far as Buchholz.

A welcome change for runners: taking the short flight of stairs and then running along Rheinstrasse is also a good option.

Turntable and fishing cross at the Swan Pond. From here, you can either continue up the Aubach Valley, return to the Swan Pond, and head towards the Braunsburg Hut, or take the path up to the Dreiwetter Hut.

Here in Irlich, at the bridges of the B9/railway, the confluence of the Westerwald's longest river, the Wied, with the Rhine is perhaps somewhat unspectacular. The Wiedweg trail begins/ends here, right on the Rhine, in this lovely spot for a break, with benches and views of the Rhine. The information board is somewhat unfortunate, located above the gateway to Irlich. It's hardly noticeable to Rhine Cycle Path cyclists and passersby.

The Neuwied Rhine Beer Garden with a beach feel right on the waterfront. Nice seating, plenty of space, shady under the trees on the promenade, and with typical catering. Opening hours from March 27, 2025: daily 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM
