🚢✨ The Zeltingen-Rachtig lock is an impressive testament to river canalization, and as one of the most important weirs, it dictates the rhythm of shipping on the Middle Moselle. Located directly opposite the historic Machern Monastery, it combines technical precision with the flowing movement of the water.

🌍 Mülheim an der Mosel and Lieser are located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the Middle Moselle region, about 35 to 40 kilometers northeast of Trier. Geographically, the Moselle River forms the border between two low mountain ranges here: Mülheim lies on the side belonging to the Hunsrück, while Lieser is on the opposite side at the foot of the vineyards, beyond which the hinterland begins.

🚲 The Moselle Cycle Path near Mülheim an der Mosel is one of the flattest and most relaxing sections of the entire route. Because the town lies in a wide valley, you have plenty of space and excellent views of both sides of the river.

The 400-year-old half-timbered houses, the Renaissance Town Hall (1608), the St. Michael's Fountain (1606), and the much-admired, charming "Pointed House" (1416) reflect the living poetry of the Middle Ages. The filigree work of the fountain grille, the ornaments and colorful beam drawings in the half-timbering of the houses, and the ornate weather vanes on the roof gables still bear eloquent witness to the town's former prosperity and history.
