Perfect terrain for a 10 or 21.1 km run. Afterwards, you can even stop off at the Kleiner Mühle (Little Mill) thanks to the new bridge. A highlight for mountain biking, too! 🍻🚵🏃♂️ Wonderful! 😮💨

It always looks absolutely beautiful in winter. It's just as enjoyable to run in the snow as it is in 30-degree heat. Great trail! From the Roman villa to the Old Pleiner Mill, it's the most beautiful section for running. 🏃♂️📯❤️🙌

The synagogue in Wittlich was built in 1909/10. During the pogrom on November 10, 1938, the synagogue's interior was vandalized by SA men and others. In 1939, the city of Wittlich purchased the building, which had served as a prisoner of war camp during World War II. The approximately 250 Wittlich Jews were expelled from the city, with the last deportation taking place in 1942. One-third of the members of the Jewish community were murdered in concentration camps. After the war, none of the survivors returned, meaning the synagogue lost its function. Source and further information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synagoge_Wittlich

St. Mark's Parish Church, Wittlich The present parish church, located in the historic city center, was built between 1709 and 1723 under Archbishops Johann Hugo von Orsbeck and Franz-Ludwig von Pfalz-Neuburg and is under the protection of the parish patron, St. Mark. The church was not formally consecrated until 1727. It is a four-bay pillar basilica in a mixture of post-Gothic and simple early Baroque forms, divided into a nave and two side aisles. A three-story tower with a curved dome houses the bells at the west end. The high altar was acquired in 1749 from the Dominican Church in Koblenz. The high-quality choir stalls on the south wall were built around 1770, those on the north wall were recreated around 1820, and both were expanded again in 1927. The side altars in the side aisles, dating from 1747, were made by the court carpenter Conrad Fischer. The organ case from 1769, crafted by Peter and Nikel Schreiber, has been preserved. The organ was rebuilt in 1848 by Wilhelm Breidenfeld of Trier and in 1958 by the organ builder Johannes Klais of Bonn. It has 38 stops distributed across three manuals and the pedals. The baptismal font was created in 1727 by the Koblenz sculptor Lorenz Staudacher. Among the many figurative works of art distributed throughout the church, the 15th-century wooden figure of St. John the Baptist stands out. The freestanding altar table (1971) and the ambo (1976), with their tree of life symbolism, are works by the Wittlich sculptor Hans Scherl. The church windows were created after the war, between 1949 and 1952, as coordinated cycles. In the north aisle, they depict scenes from the Old Testament (by Alois Stettner and Prof. Heinrich Dieckmann), and in the south aisle, New Testament depictions of saints (by Prof. Dieckmann and Maurice Rocher). The choir windows by Prof. Georg Meistermann depict the high feasts of the liturgical year: Christmas, Easter, Ascension, and Pentecost.
