With the 1958 reconstruction according to plans by Heinrich Otto Vogel, only the bell tower, the rose window above the main portal, and the two side windows remain. The new section is made of concrete clad with rubble stone. Eugen Keller's mosaic of the Crucified Christ behind the altar dominates the interior. The organ was installed in 1978. During the Ahr floods of 2021, the church was massively flooded and severely damaged.

The many Protestant visitors were no longer required to attend services in the hall of the "Houverath" inn in Ahrweiler, but could instead attend a Protestant church in Bad Neuenahr.
