The Mushroom. A great place to stop at any time of day or year. Come sun or snow, as long as you arrive after a long but not too steep climb.

The Lothar Thieves Soldier's Grave is a moving war grave in Solingen-Höhrath. Lothar Thieves was a young German soldier who tragically died in the final days of World War II. He was only 16 years old when he was wounded in battle and left behind by his comrades. Local residents found him and tried to bring him to safety, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries. His mother later asked that his grave be preserved as a memorial rather than being transferred to a mass grave to honor the memory of her son. The grave serves as a memorial to the senseless loss of young lives in war. Source: KI

Normally, after the war, the soldiers who were buried individually were reburied in collective cemeteries. At the mother's request, this grave was preserved and is intended to commemorate the senseless death of her son, who fell here at the age of just 16, shortly before the end of the war.
