A cozy cafe where a cup of coffee and pastry goes down well. Definitely recommended if you're in Balk, especially on a Sunday morning. It even got busy with coffee drinkers.

Woudsend is a village between Heegermeer and Slotermeer.

A small pond in the middle of the forest. There's a bench on one side for a quick rest. A bridge crosses the pond. A very beautiful, unexpected place.

Balk has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The village developed along the Luts, a historic river that was traditionally important for shipping. In the 19th century, Balk became a centre of the dairy industry, and the village flourished due to the many farms that processed their products here. This heritage is still visible in the authentic buildings and the rural character of the village.
