The Coendersborg in Nuis was created by merging the Fossemaheerd, Harkemaplaats and Heringheplaats. The current borg was built in 1813 on the site of the former Fossemaheerd. The name Trimunt refers to the monastery In Tribus Montibus that stood here in the Middle Ages. Not much is known about the women's monastery. Trimunt was originally located on a sandy ridge in a vast moor area. After the reclamation of this, an open meadow area has been created on the lower parts, in which several peat holes are reminiscent of the peat bogs. In the thirties of the twentieth century, the Ontginningsbos was created directly around Trimunt. The Jilt Dijksheide, named after the last owner-painter, is the only remaining heath area in the Westerkwartier in the Dutch province of Groningen, located between the hamlets of Trimunt and Zethuis along the former tram line Drachten - Groningen. Together with the Trimunter mining forest, it forms a nature reserve that is managed by Staatsbosbeheer. The area of heath is more than 20 ha. A newly constructed stream valley near Marum in the municipality of Westerkwartier. Birds can indulge themselves here. In the winter the area is under water and in the summer it is largely dry. In winter it is a foraging and sleeping place for countless geese. In summer it is a breeding ground for meadow birds.
