The historic city center of Enkhuizen is a beautiful place steeped in centuries of maritime history and authentic charm. As you walk through the cobbled streets and along the canals, you will be surrounded by beautifully preserved 17th-century merchant houses and monumental buildings that reflect the prosperous VOC period. An absolute must-see is the Zuiderzee Museum, where you get the chance to travel back in time and experience traditional Dutch culture and crafts. The Dromedaris, an imposing fortress tower from 1540, offers a panoramic view of the city and the IJsselmeer. Enjoy fresh fish dishes in the many restaurants along the quay, taste local delicacies such as the Enkhuizer bol, and relax on one of the attractive terraces. Don't forget to visit the harbour, where old sailing ships and boats paint a vivid picture of the maritime past.

Absolutely worth seeing city for exploring you should take some time. Usually well frequented even outside of the season, but in summer it's not really possible to get through here by bike - it's better to park it and continue on foot.

De Dromedaris, the southern city gate of Enkhuizen, is the building dominating the old port. Right next to it is the lift bridge that takes you to the other part of the city.

Worthwhile museum in a historic building - the sound of steam engines is always beautiful.
