Naarden Fortress is one of the best preserved fortified towns in Europe and is best known for its unique star shape. Since 2021, the fortress has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Dutch Water Line. The fortress in its current form has been continuously expanded and adapted in the past. Water played a crucial role in this. It is a beautiful place for a walk or a bike or boat trip. In the Yellow Floods you can find more information about the history of the fortress, the role of water and all the activities that can be done there.

A car-free route surrounded by lush greenery, with occasional sightings of sheep grazing nearby. It's not ideal for large groups on racing bikes or peak cycling days due to its narrowness. This idyllic path runs alongside water, offering a peaceful ride solo or in small groups during quieter times. However, be mindful of the abundance of flies in spring and summer.

Very impressive - not only the history of the fortress. Everything is so well preserved and the town within the complex is also worth seeing. I took a look at the real estate agents' notices - the Rhein-Main area is a bargain in comparison.
