Bleckede Castle is home to the Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve, where you can discover the diversity of the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve. Numerous media stations in the exhibition provide information about the landscape and its inhabitants. The observation tower offers a beautiful view all around – a perfect introduction to your tour of the Elbe Valley. Two colored church windows show the Christmas events and the resurrection. Another church window shows a motif for the opening of the border in 1989 - which was a special event.

From there you have a great view over the Elbtalaue. It's definitely worth it!

Unfortunately, you can't see anything of the Elbe from the cycle path here, as it runs on the side of the dike facing away from the Elbe and the Elbe runs quite a distance away from the dike here. In between there are meadows, some brackish water and the "Alte Elbe", an old, silted-up branch of the Elbe, which, except during floods, no longer has a connection to the Elbe. Therefore, the name "Elbeblick" doesn't really fit here. There are a lot of black kites here, and I've seen and photographed them here several times on my cycle tours. I suspect that Michael marked the wrong place as a "highlight", because his two photos don't show this place either, but rather look like the Elbe near Barförde / Wendewisch.

When we were here, it was unfortunately closed, but it was an exciting location.
