The Kiebitzer See is today a local recreation area, fishing area and renaturation area in one. The lake was created by the local quarrying of gravel from 1922. The water surface covers about 70 hectares with a maximum water depth of twelve meters. The lake is surrounded by large pine and mixed forests, such as the Schweinert nature reserve, which contains one of the largest burial mounds from the Bronze Age in Europe.

The manager of the house gave us a short but very interesting tour of the mill. Just talk to the "Müllersleute". The history of the mill and in particular that of the last miller is extremely interesting and exciting.

According to the records of the city archive of Wahrenbrück, it was first mentioned around 1248 as a grinding mill, around 1320 as the first iron hammer in Germany, in 1343 again as a grinding mill, from 1696 - 1858 as a paper mill and from then on again as a grinding and grist mill. The mill is privately owned. In summer you can eat homemade cakes and drink delicious coffee in the Mühlenhof.
