To mark its 20th anniversary in 2013, the Elsterschloss-Gymnasium Support Association commissioned the creation and installation of an art installation on the grounds of the present-day Elsterschloss-Gymnasium. As part of the "Art at the Castle" project, a bronze casting model of Elsterschloss Elsterwerda was created. Dobra chainsaw carver Roland Karl has created a monumental self-portrait here. Born in 1960, the artist discovered this unusual form of art through travels after the fall of the Berlin Wall, primarily to the USA and Canada. The trained plant engineer and forester has been working as a freelance artist since 2006, working in his workshop in Dobra and in this open-air area along the main road. Using his chainsaw, he carves people, animals, forest spirits, and much more into large blocks of wood.

The railway museum at Falkenberg/Elster station takes visitors back in history. Exhibits include model railways, signal boxes, Reichsbahn uniforms, many pictures, old carriages and a collection of historic telephones. Anyone who wants to can get a ticket from Calau to Leipzig worth 5 marks from the old ticket printer.
